Our Standards
Our Standards
We believe you have a right to know what's in your clothes. Here's exactly what we look for and why it matters.
Natural Fibers First
Every Vaate piece is made from natural fibers. Cotton, linen, bamboo. No polyester. No nylon. No acrylic. Synthetic fibers are essentially plastic, and plastic doesn't belong on your skin.
Where a small percentage of elastane is needed for fit and stretch, such as in ribbed tanks or underwear, we are upfront about it. You will always know exactly what you're wearing.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is one of the world's most trusted textile certifications. It tests for over 100 harmful substances including pesticides, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and carcinogenic dyes.
When a fabric carries this certification, it means every component has been independently tested and confirmed safe for human health. We prioritize OEKO-TEX certified materials across our collection.
GOTS Certified Organic
The Global Organic Textile Standard is the gold standard for organic textiles. GOTS certification covers the entire supply chain, from raw fiber to finished product, ensuring organic farming practices, responsible manufacturing, and safe working conditions.
Where our products carry GOTS certification, you can trust that the organic claims are independently verified.
No Greenwashing
We don't use vague terms like all-natural or chemical-free because no honest brand can make that absolute claim. What we can promise is this: we choose natural fibers over synthetic ones, we seek certified materials, and we are transparent when we cannot meet an absolute standard.
If something in our collection has a small percentage of elastane for functional reasons, we tell you. That's what natural fibers first means. It's a philosophy, not a perfect claim.
